Autonomous a2z (a2z) will be reborn as the center of the 'supply chain' encompassing the entire process from commercial autonomous driving technology and platform development to commercial production.

a2z signed an 'autonomous driving mobility vehicle platform development and mass production agreement' with Daegu Metropolitan City and five auto parts companies at EXCO in Daegu on the 21st. These seven organizations and companies will jointly develop all areas necessary for the production of complete autonomous vehicles, such as powertrain, vehicle HMI system, chassis, and electronic components, along with autonomous vehicle technology.

Han Ji-hyeong, CEO of a2z, said, "Based on the experience in technology development and project management gained through Hyundai Motor and the technology accumulated in various government demonstration projects since its establishment, we have established a plan to mass-produce the world's best unmanned mobility vehicle platform." “I persuaded major domestic auto parts makers to decide that it should go ahead with a mass production project through collaboration with the world’s best domestic company,” he said.

a2z presented the general mass production of the 'level 4' autonomous vehicle platform in 2027 together with the contracting companies as a business roadmap. The vehicle platform planned by a2z will be developed into two types of autonomous driving cars, a small 300 kg and a 900 kg medium-sized autonomous vehicle. Depending on the size, it is divided into different uses, from delivery and cleaning vehicles to large cargoes and public transportation. 

While major automakers are clinging to developing self-driving cars in the form of existing passenger cars, a2z plans to create a car in the form of a box car that they do not try. To this end, it will expand the autonomous vehicle ecosystem through collaboration with more than 100 domestic parts makers as well as IT, telecommunications, and electronics companies.

Using this agreement as a stepping stone, a2z will develop a prototype car in 2023 and begin mass production of a pilot car in 2025. After that, in line with the government's enactment of related laws, it plans to introduce a fully commercial autonomous vehicle in 2027.

CEO Han said, "Until now, domestic self-driving car development has been accomplished by retrofitting existing vehicles with various software, but since then there are limitations. done,” he said. 

Daegu City will also actively support this project. Under the policy of developing the city into a base for the autonomous vehicle industry, the company plans to persuade parts makers to participate in the project and also contribute to the creation of a production base in the future.
