Autonomous a2z, an autonomous driving solution venture company, will start demonstrating a 3-ton truck self-driving cleaning vehicle from next month. After securing technological prowess and profitability based on special vehicles in the short term, it plans to expand to shuttle bus and robo-taxi businesses.

Autonomous a2z announced on the 3rd that it would start commercializing the self-driving cleaning car after demonstrating it from October to the first half of next year. Currently, this project is in progress with Gwangju City. In the case of a vacuum cleaner for the purpose of collecting garbage, it is expected that the commercialization period can be relatively advanced because it moves at a low speed.

After securing technology based on special vehicles in the short term, the company will also promote shuttle buses and robo taxis that operate in designated areas such as smart cities and amusement parks.

Autonomous a2z is focusing on entering the special vehicle market because it is expected that it will take more time in the future for autonomous driving technology to be installed in high-speed ordinary passenger cars. The company predicts that the autonomous driving market will be formed around 2025.

CEO Han Ji-hyeong said, "In order to install autonomous driving in general passenger cars running all over the country, all related technologies must be developed at the same time, and related laws and systems as well as insurance products are required." We are trying to secure technology and profitability,” he said.

Autonomous a2z has developed LiDAR signal processing technology, a core technology for autonomous driving. It also completed the construction of a precise map of the Sejong city road. The strength of the algorithm is that it can be processed quickly and easily because it has a lot of experience in operating and developing self-driving cars on real roads. It was also selected as a supporting company in the autonomous driving sensing field among 'BIG3', a new industry of the future by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups.

Recently, the company obtained a temporary autonomous driving license from the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport for the 100th time. Prior to that, many self-driving cars were made and licensed by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, but these were vehicles that were contracted from outside or manufactured through government projects. The vehicle that received the 100th certification was produced with its own budget, and it is now possible to pursue a full-fledged profit-making business. The company also received an angel investment of 2.1 billion won on the 30th of last month.

CEO Han said, "We have never received external investment since our founding in 2018, but we have recently started to attract angel investment in the sense that the technological perfection has improved and the government-led market is being created." We plan to launch a full-fledged investment round when we can properly evaluate the company's value."
