Sony Korea and Autonomous a2z, a domestic autonomous driving solution development company, will conduct an autonomous driving field test using vehicle image sensors.

Sony Korea's application and device division announced on the 5th that it had signed a business agreement for autonomous driving field test with Autonomous a2z.

This agreement aims to improve the performance of Autonomous a2z's autonomous driving platform with Sony's high-performance image sensor and to solve various problems that may occur during autonomous driving at night and in bad weather environments.

In particular, in consideration of the recent traffic environment, LED flicker suppression and high dynamic range (HDR) are implemented at the same time, and a dedicated camera with Sony's unique pixel technology that helps to accurately recognize objects even in situations where conventional recognition is difficult, such as strong sunlight We plan to increase the efficiency of recognition through

Sony Korea will provide high-performance image sensors necessary for the field test, and Autonomous a2z will support demonstration vehicles equipped with autonomous driving technology and collect data in various traffic environments.

Through this field test, the two companies aim to develop a demonstration vehicle equipped with Sony's vehicle image sensor by March, and will continue to seek ways to advance autonomous driving recognition technology in the mid to long term.

Han Ji-hyeong, CEO of Autonomous a2z, said, "Through this agreement, we will have world-class autonomous driving technology through technological advancement by applying Sony's advanced image sensor to our autonomous driving recognition system." We expect that cooperation will further accelerate the time for mass production of autonomous vehicles in 2027, which is suggested by the government,” he said.

"We will strive to provide a safer and more innovative autonomous driving experience by combining Sony's high-performance image sensor technology and Autonomous a2z's technology in the field of autonomous driving," said Tomochika Watanabe, sales manager of Sony Korea's Applications and Devices Division.“ he said.
