Establishment of a total business model for autonomous driving

Korean star venture companies have come together to develop 'self-driving drones'.

Autonomous a2z (CEO Han Ji-hyeong, a2z), an autonomous driving solution development company, and PRENEU (CEO Lee Jong-kyung), an industrial unmanned aerial vehicle development company, signed a business agreement on the 24th to develop a next-generation drone using autonomous driving technology

Through this agreement, the two companies will install a2z's camera and lidar-based cognitive technology on PRENEU's drone platform. Through this, the company plans to develop an autonomous drone capable of flying for a long time on an optimal route in complex terrain by enhancing its cognitive ability in forest, marine, and industrial environments.

In particular, if accurate terrain information is acquired using a2z's LiDAR point cloud data, it will be possible to effectively identify and avoid obstacles instead of the existing methods of avoiding by increasing altitude or driving long distances. By using this technology, it is expected that the battery energy consumption will be minimized, which will greatly improve the mission time and range of the drone.

The 'a2z solution' developed by a2z has been applied to various vehicle platforms such as ultra-small electric vehicles, passenger cars, small buses, and trucks, and is being tested in major cities across the country. Through its own algorithm, autonomous driving is possible in the city center and tunnels where GPS signals are not well received, and autonomous driving at night or in bad weather conditions is well received. a2z is confident that the 'a2z solution' can be applied to drones through this agreement.

Starting with the development of drones using autonomous driving technology, the two companies plan to explore autonomous driving mobility services from various angles through platform diversification and platform combination. In particular, we are envisioning a total business model for autonomous driving in smart cities. If self-driving drones become a reality, it is expected that they can be linked with services such as facility inspection, natural disaster monitoring, logistics, and delivery.

PRENEU is spurring the development of drones and the localization of various mission devices including FC (Flight Controller), the electronic device of drones. Through this MOU, it is expected to achieve the perfect localization of self-driving drone

a2z CEO Han Ji-hyeong said, "Through this agreement, we have created an opportunity to expand the autonomous driving platform from vehicles to drones.
