Autonomous driving solution
company Autonomous a2z (CEO Jihyeong Han) announced on the 30th that it has
been selected as a representative startup in the field of traffic and
transportation at 2023 KOREA AI Startup100.
KOREA AI STARTUP 100 is a project
hosted by KT and The Korea Economic Daily aimed at discovering promising AI
startups. The companies were selected by the AI One Team, a
selection committee composed of AI experts from the fields of industry,
academia, research, and venture capital (VC).
“We focused
not only on discovering startups, but also on helping future AI unicorns grow
to the next level, such as by attracting additional investment and technical
cooperation,”
said the organizers. “Of
the companies selected in the first two events, nine have successfully
completed initial public offerings (IPOs) and 37 have achieved results such as attracting
follow-up investments,”
the organizers added.
Autonomous a2z is an autonomous
driving startup founded in 2018. It operates “Robobus,” the highest-speed and
longest-distance bus in Chungcheongbuk-do, Sejong, and Daejeon, at cost. In
Daegu, it operates demand-responsive robot taxis and provides MaaS (mobility as a service)
that connects passengers and daily logistics services. It has run
demonstrations of autonomous vehicles in more than 10 regions across the
country and has achieved a cumulative driving distance of about 300,000km.
Recently, the company unveiled “Project MS” (Mid Shuttle) and “Project SD” (Small Delivery) to mass produce the first two
fully driverless mobility vehicles in Korea. The vehicles are “autonomous
driving dedicated electric vehicles” that will be equipped with Level 4 autonomous
driving software. The company plans to launch a prototype car in 2024 and enter
full-scale production in 2025 after the passage of Level 4 autonomous
driving-related legislation.
