As artificial intelligence (AI) companies advance into Gwangju, the “Gwangju AI business foundation project” is accelerating. 


On the 22nd, Gwangju City signed a business agreement with five companies including Autonomous a2z, O2O, Rbiotech, Alphado, and Crowdworks to create a Gwangju-type AI business foundation. 


According to the business agreement, Autonomous a2z will establish a corporation and regional offices in Gwangju to develop special-purpose autonomous driving software platform technology. 


O2O will establish a Gwangju corporation to utilize the self-developed AI-based voice interface platform technology, and R Biotech will promote the establishment of a Gwangju corporation and regional offices to develop an AI-based next-generation exercise platform for customized rehabilitation. 


In addition, Alphado, which received investment from the Accentry Ventures Gwangju Center, will move its headquarters to Gwangju City, and Cloudworks will establish a Gwangju corporation and regional offices to establish an ecosystem through AI learning data collection and processing and linking with Gwangju AI companies.


Gwangju Mayor Lee Yong-seop said, “AI in the era of the 4th industrial revolution is a key element of national competitiveness and a great opportunity factor that will provide us with infinite possibilities. We will do our best to create it,” he said. 


Gwangju City has attracted 16 AI companies over the past 5 months, and 8 companies have established corporations and opened offices.
